Jet capability for airborne surveillance
The Embraer R-99 is a special-mission airborne-surveillance platform derived from the ERJ-145 regional jet. Twin turbofans deliver cruise speeds around 450 knots and service ceilings exceeding 37,000 feet, extending surveillance range and reducing time to target compared to turboprop alternatives. The spacious cabin accommodates multiple operator consoles, sensor equipment, and systems workstations while maintaining crew comfort on extended missions.
The R-99 family has established itself in wide-area surveillance and reconnaissance across multiple operators. Proven conversion architecture, strong reliability in all-weather operations, and the inherent advantages of jet speed make it an ideal platform for surveillance missions demanding wide coverage and rapid response.
AIMS-ISR on the R-99
CarteNav has already integrated AIMS-ISR on the Embraer R-99. A program selecting this platform inherits a fully de-risked mission system with proven surveillance CONOPs: multiple operators commanding radar, EO/IR, and other sensors from a unified multi-console picture with automatic sensor fusion, real-time moving maps, and evidence-grade mission recording.
AIMS-C4 connectivity keeps theater or national command centers synchronized with the aircraft in real time. Each sortie produces a complete, legally defensible mission record. The same sensor-agnostic integration that scales across turboprops and rotorcraft applies here: integrate the surveillance payload the program requires with no vendor lock-in and full interoperability with other AIMS-ISR platforms.
