Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada – CarteNav Solutions Inc. (CarteNav), a market leader in mission system software solutions, is pleased to announce at the Farnborough International Air Show the integration of its AIMS-ISR product with the Leonardo Osprey multimode ESCAN surveillance radar. CarteNav’s experience from over 400 installations in 40 countries, combined with the small-target detection and very high-resolution ground mapping capabilities of the Osprey radar, creates a powerful surveillance solution for small to large, manned and unmanned platforms.
This solution provides operators with a customizable interface that enables intuitive and efficient exploitation of the extensive functionality of the Osprey radar, including dual-maps and a comprehensive media browser for managing SAR imagery. In addition, because AIMS-ISR is connected to the wider sensor suite, a range of new, multi-sensor features are now available to the operator. For example: multi-sensor cross-cueing, locking a radar feature to a different sensor track and triggering radar features from platform position and areas-of-interest.
The AIMS-ISR/Osprey integration is an important milestone on CarteNav’s sensor integration roadmap, demonstrating the company’s continuing investment in the field of radar surveillance. Furthermore, CarteNav’s relationship with Leonardo will continue to grow with the planned integration of AIMS-ISR with the PicoSAR and Gabbiano radars.
The first AIMS-ISR/Osprey integration is being delivered to an international customer in 2019.
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with Leonardo to expand our portfolio of integrated sensors and to collaborate to ensure we provide easy to use and effective features for the end user of our products” said Paul Evans, CarteNav’s President.
“Leonardo actively looks to join forces with industry partners like CarteNav in situations where working together rather than individually will result in the most appropriate and best-value solution for customers.” said Alberto Pietra, Director of Marketing and Sales for Leonardo Airborne and Space Systems
Leonardo’s Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology sets the standard for surveillance radars, having been sold to 30 countries. The radars offer air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities with a variety of advanced modes including the company’s patented small target detection capability. The Company’s Osprey AESA radar is already on-board Norway’s new Leonardo AW101 search and rescue helicopters, which have now started to be delivered, and has also been selected by the US Navy to equip its new MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned helicopters.
